2003 Chevrolet C5 Z06
Presented in gleaming gloss black over black, this American muscle shows how well it has been cared for, it has been with the same owner from new. Purchased for his house in the US, driven to all 52 states, then extensively toured around Europe too, all of its miles have been on long drives, meaning the engine was well up to temperature and running in its optimum range. The interior tells the same tale, with the original gear knob supplied with the car for 100% originality should you so desire. So why does the DVLA show 2 former keepers I hear you cry? Well, it was so good, that after a short stint with a new owner, the original owner bought it back again. A trusty and well cared for companion, as the history file will attest.
The sought after Z06 variant, means a much better-balanced car, 6 speed manual as standard, transaxle gearbox for better weight distribution and an LSD for real drivers to extract the best from the car. It really is in a league above the standard C5. Supplied with its 50th anniversary books, original pen and even tyre pressure tester, this really is one for the enthusiast & collector. Especially rare in this spec. The hard top making it more useable in the U.K. Day to day. With a ridiculous amount of kit for 2003, all of which works too, I might add, these are a force to be reckoned with. Heads up display, full trip computer, traction control and the list goes on, I can see why the owner decided to keep it for 20 years, as it must be hard to beat for a long trip, the seats and ride comfort are also sublime!
Handling wise, it isn’t the American boat you (and I) had it penned to be, this Z06 update really went all out to create a proper driver’s machine. Reduced body roll and very nicely balanced handling. A lightened hydroformed steel chassis to increase stiffness and being fibreglass too, the weight isn’t anywhere near where its comfort would have you believe. The transaxle gearbox operates with Porsche like precision and is a true joy to use and also provides the car with a 50/50 weight balance, the first Corvette to have this. So, it really is a great all-rounder; cocooning you in sumptuous leather, LS V8 growl and handling, all for a very reasonable sum. Rarity value, reliability & standing out at your next car meet are guaranteed. What a car!
As clean underneath as it is on top is a statement that rarely is true, but once again this cossetted car is testament to its caring ownership and backing up the claim that it hasn’t been left sat for years, taken on salty roads or used in the wet, always garaged and serviced with no expense spared, this one is that clean.
With a full history from new, including the purchase details from the USA, even the A3 factory laminated spec sheet from the window is still in the history file, along with the original purchase documents, later on moving to import documentation, all of the invoices for the work carried out, taxing, registration, even fuel usage has been documented. It is such a comprehensive file, which is a treat and certainly adds to the car’s value.
HPC Classics have detailed the paintwork and bar one tiny spider crack on the nose, the car really is immaculate inside, outside and underneath. Even the alloys and tyres are spot on having only been fitted in 2019. It is freshly serviced and has had a brake and clutch bleed. The battery was new in 2022 and has a clean MOT until August 2024.
Supplied with every document, item and book from new, even the notepad is in place still. The original gear knob also comes with the car for the purists out there. I challenge you to find a better example in the U.K!
