1998 TVR Chimaera 450
Racing green and British sports cars are a combo that’s always hard to beat, with a full restoration, re-spray and fresh hood, rarely do they look this good. The rare and most sought-after Chimaera, being the 450, seen as the sweet spot for driveability, this could be the perfect spec, with the right history and every bucket list job already ticked off, a brand new chassis from RT Racing, stealth cam and followers from V8 Developments, upgraded power steering, Tuscan S spec Gaz Gold dampers, Hi Spec 4 pot brakes you name it, this car has it all.
With a sleeved exhaust, the car sounds exactly how a TVR should, it means business from the moment you turn the key. It doesn’t just look great, it goes it too, the cam change is clear to see, it is willing to rev & produces more power throughout the range, all whilst making the most immense sound! Get to the bends and then the upgraded brakes and power steering help out, controlled by the upgraded dampers and fresh bushes throughout, it really is sublime on the road.
We’ve looked after this particular car for around 4 years, and it is one of the very best money can buy, no expense has been spared in looking after it and its current condition is a testament to that. You’ll do well to find a better Chimaera anywhere, with its bright white chassis, amazing paintwork (ceramic coated by us in 2022), all of the upgrades and a great history file to boot, why wait!
If you are after a TVR with all of the expensive work taken care of, this one fits the bill well, but instead of just a restoration, it has had extensive upgrades to make it an even better driver’s machine than the 450 was anyhow. It really is head and shoulders above a standard car and it shows on the road. A list of the big jobs carried out are as below:
- Brand new chassis from RT Racing
- Stealth Cam & followers – V8D
- Hi Spec 4 pot Brakes
- Full suspension refresh
- Gaz Gold Tuscan S spec adjustable dampers
- Subaru PAS upgrade
- New hood
- Powers 90-degree intake elbow
- Differential rebuilt
- Gearbox linkage rebuilt
- Radiator & twin fan set up
- Silicone coolant hose upgrade
- Wiper motor replaced
- Dash re-veneered
- New carpets
- Upgraded alarm with remote boot release
- New Bluetooth stereo system
Over and above this, the car has a full service history, the red key code cards and comes supplied with the roof bag, spare wheel & its cover, a car cover, TVR boot bag, spare belt and the Steve Heath bible too. This car is the full package, we are open to sensible offers and part exchange (even your daily driver if it’s cool RWD & runs on dinosaur juice)!
The perfect colour combo, factory spec and upgrades, it goes right, sounds right and looks right. So what are you waiting for, to get into the best Chimaera there is, now’s the time!
